+Fear Empowerment: Devils feed on the fear that humans and other devils have toward them. This makes them stronger.

+Contract Creation: All devils can offer humans contracts, loaning them power and making it possible to use the devil to aid them. This can be done for a sacrifice of the devil's choosing, for example; the Fox devil will swallow anything in its mouth for an offer of human flesh.

+ Life-Span Weapons: They can transform the life span siphoned into weapons that can fight the supernatural. For example, a sword that can cut intangible beings. They make these weapons by materializing them from reaching inside their halo.

Role Qualities/Attributes: Angel will start to manifest little devil horns, fangs, and a long devil tail with a spade tip. I think it would be cool to have them be able to see in the dark as well!
Role Reasoning: Answer both: 1)Why are you picking this role for your character? 2)What are your general plans concerning this?

I'm picking this role for Angel as I feel being a Devil it's the best option. Angel is complicated. Being a Devil first and an Angel second, they could represent either Legend or Myth. Angel is selfishly motivated, doing as little as possible to help stay out of trouble. They are emotionally distant/cold by choice and due to Makimai's control over them. They try hard not to get involved with people and say anything to put them off. Most of the time they are greedy, motivated with food/treats, and can be inconsiderate with how bluntly they talk.

I plan on having Angel eventually rise and change into a Legend. It's appropriate for their journey and could be fun playing out. Angel struggles with feelings towards humans, claiming they want humans to die, that they would rather die than have to work for them, yet as the story progresses Angel ends up trying to save their partner from the Control Devil. Having them start as a Myth, playing up on the Devil traits, and through interactions, having them develop their attitude so they become selfless and helpful, would be a cool nod to their original canon development.

❥ What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them?

[ CW: death, dead bodies, murder ]
Though their memories have been suppressed, Angel never fully forgot what happened to them that day on the beach. It comes to them in nightmares. Floating bodies, emaciated and void of life bobbing up and down lightly on the surface of the waves. Blood in the water, bones on the sand, and Angel standing there, arm outstretched touching the hand of the one they claimed loved them and who they loved back. Others from their village, dead in the water around them across the whole entirety of the beach. Massacered by Angel's life-siphoning touch.

When Makima found the Angel Devil in that sleepy little beach hamlet, they asked them to show her their power. When Angel refused, Makima, being the Control Devil, made Angel show her against their will. It's possibly the most traumatic thing that has happened to them, considering at the time, they were content to live a peaceful, angelic life. Being loved and loving others, gracing them with their serene presence.

This changed Angel drastically because not only do they feel uncomfortable and afraid of what they did, how they can't recall doing it but still have graphic nightmares about it, it shaped how they would then go on to live while under the contract of the bureau. Keeping themself to themself, not making friendships or connections with humans, and distancing themself from life in general. They feel immense guilt and even state if they rot away to nothing then so be it.


❥ What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why?

Honestly, it has to be their relationship with fellow Devil Hunter; Aki Hayakawa. Before being partnered with Aki, Angel is content to exist in the dark, dank cell they keep them in. Refusing contact and making little to no attempt to make themself useful, despite knowing that Devil's who prove too dangerous to control or hard to work with, are put to death- Angel still pushes their luck in being obviously lazy and unmotivated.

It's thanks to the way Aki handles them that Angel starts to have cold feet about their current way of life. They're surprised that Aki doesn't fear them like most humans do. They're stunned by Aki's kindness and consideration towards them, even as Aki states he hates Devils and wants to kill them all in the most painful ways. From simple things like Aki buying them an ice cream for no other reason than that they wanted it, to the way they eventually talk about how they wish they could live a normal life. Angel starts to care. They start to give a shit what happens to Aki and in the end give their life trying to protect him.


❥ What are your characters dreams and nightmares? Do you believe they are more likely to obtain one rather than the other?

Angel states that they never dream and that they only ever have nightmares. They say they hate going to sleep for this reason. Their life-siphoning ability works by storing years of individuals life they stole by touching them, inside their halo. Angel can then reach up through the hole of their halo, and by sacrificing time such as a few months to a few years of gathered time, they are able to make weapons that can kill supernatural beings such as Devil.

However, once Angel make a weapon, they are riddled with guilt as the ghosts of the dead, of the people whose life they took time from, haunt them in their sleep in the form of nightmares.

As for dreams they have, they just want to live a 'normal' life. Some place away from all the hustle and bustle of the City, away from work and away from people. Like Aesop's Fable, the Country Mouse and the Town Mouse, Angel believes living a simple and happy life is better than living an extravagant life with constant fear... This is what they dream of.

❥ What famous folklore, legend, or myth would you associate your character with? Are they literally inspired by Snow White? Do they have similar struggles or energy as Red Riding Hood?

Devils are supernatural beings that are born in Hell and feed on the fear of humans and other creatures, they are born with a name that corresponds to a concept, such as "Bomb" or "Future". The more fear associated with a name, the more powerful the Devil. Being the Angel Devil means Angel's lore is literally taken from the various texts, hymns, images, and tales of Angel by humans.

They represent everything an Angel is supposed to represent, serving a higher being, protecting and guiding people. Bridging the gap between God and humanity, singing praise and heralding justice, they defeat enemies and rescue those in need. That's what Angel is supposed to represent.

❥ What is a time where your character failed drastically at something and how did it impact them, what did they do about it?

Angel fails to protect Aki when he is forced to make a contract with Makima. Angel realized just a little too late, that Aki was being tricked by Makima. She has the ability to control humans and force them to make contracts with her and that was the way her conversation with Aki was going. When Angel caught on to this, they tried to stop it. Pulling a 100 years' worth of siphoned life from their halo, in the form of a weapon they thought must be strong enough to kill a being like Makima... Only, she was able to overpower them, easily.

The impact this has on them is terrible. Though it's not long before Makima makes them one of her puppets, they see Aki make a contract and fail to stop them. They saw the only person, the only human they cared about, being reduced to nothing but a mindless weapon for the Control Devil to use as they like. It's devastating and no doubt left Angel feeling hopeless and once more grieving.

❌ Skin-to-skin contact: Angel is triggered by physical contact with humans, touching like this causes a human's lifespan to drain. Siphoning life causes Angel guilt-riddled nightmares.
❌ Mind Control: If your character can and does control other people with their mind, for example; making them do things against their will, things to hurt others, they will want to avoid that character for fear of being controlled again as Angel was controlled by the Control Devil and forced to kill a whole village with their power.
❌ Hell: Though it might not exist or be different for your character canon, Angel will avoid talk of or anything to do with Hell if possible. They have an unsettling feeling when they talk about it and when they are there, they want to be away/back somewhere safe ASAP.

Content warnings related to the character:

Chainsaw Man is a very graphically violent and gory canon. With topics such as body horror, vore, death, murder, suicide, mutilation, control/manipulation, Devils & Monsters, guns, weapons, and lots of blood. So I understand that some people might not be comfortable interacting with Angel due to this. Below, I have gone into some explanation of possible disturbing topics that have come up canon that people may want me to avoid/not mention while interacting with Angel.

• The gore is gratuitous with depictions of squirting blood, viscera, and mushed body matter in fight scenes.
• There are bodily mutilations such as dismemberment, disembowelment and decapitations
• Scenes of and mention of vore with Devil's eating humans, talking about eating humans including children and pregnant women, as well as consuming zombie flesh, blood and other miscellaneous body parts.

Another factor in Chainsaw Man is the mention of fears and phobias in the physical forms of a Devil. I have linked a list of all known Devil in canon so that people can see if there is a fear they would wish to avoid talking about should they come up. An example of such is the Needle Devil or Spider Devil as a lot of people have a phobia of these things and I would not want to distress anyone through rp! [ spoilers ahead! ] Devil List Here!

NOTE!: Even though these subjects are sensitive, I would be open to playing them out for the sake of negative CR if it was wanted. However, as a whole, it's best to avoid the following topics/situations with Angel.

✖️ Trying to touch Angel: Either at all or without some kind of fabric barrier would cause them to become stressed and afraid. They might not trust your character after that, especially if it was done without warning or consent.
✖️ Trying to control Angel: Your character will receive a negative reaction from this as it brings up horrible shattered memories for them.
✖️ Treating them like a weapon: If your character tries to make Angel fight for them, especially if it's not in a life-or-death situation, such as asking them to drain someone's life, they would rather avoid them, seeing as this causes them guilty nightmares.
